I had the unenviable task of going to Home Affairs today to apply for a new passport.
Upon arriving in the parking lot I was swamped by "Entrepreneurs" offering varied services from photo's to application forms to the use of pens to people who will literally take you to the front of the queue to be assisted by their contacts for a fee.
Well I had a look at the passport queue which was out of the door and felt the hot, dank air in that dingy little room and decided to make use of the "Entrepreneurs" after all!
Price of photo's - R45.00
Price of passport application - R176.00
Price of car guard - R5.00
Price of "Entrepreneurial Service" - R280.00
Not standing in the queue risking contracting TB or worse and foregoing the back ache from endless standing - PRICELESS!
