I was astounded to discover that the main culprit behind headaches, fatigue and lack of concentration in the work place and at schools is dehydration.
Is this not just so very crazy when we live in a modern world with running water at our fingertips!
Schools and businesses should have clean and sufficient water fountains available and parents should train children from a young age to drink water instead of fizzy drinks.
My mom used to insist we have a glass of water if we felt peckish between meals and this used to decrease our intake of snacks thereby also keeping weight in check.
The brain can not distinguish between hunger and thirst in a state of mild dehydration and so all too often people will have a snack instead of a glass of water.
There are different schools of thought in terms of how much water a body requires on a daily basis.
Some say the standard 8 glasses no matter who, where and what you are and others suggest that water intake should be based on an individuals weight ie. one glass for every 10kg of weight.
I now have my 1.5 litre bottle on my desk which I will make a point of draining every day and an extra glass at night.
