Over the last week or so Budda has developed a behaviour pattern whereby he starts this bellowing meow at 3:30 in the morning.
It is impossible to ignore as he just goes on and on and it is really loud and well exactly that... Bellowing!
Now to be fair, his tummy is full as dad gets up to feed them wet food when he first starts meowing, he has a bowl full of biscuits, fresh water, an abundance of warm comfy beds including ours if he so wishes, several toys and a twin brother to play with, the window is open so he can go out and explore or do his business and there is a cat sand box in the spare bathroom in case it is too wet or cold outside so really his every need is catered for.
At first we thought he might be feeling lonely so we would go and pick him up and bring him back to bed with us and snuggle him but he soon jumps off the bed and starts walking around bellowing again.
Then I thought perhaps he had caught something or was trying to bring our attention to something but when I go and have a look there is absolutely nothing.
I think this is just naughty behaviour because as soon as we get up and put lights on he stops.
It is almost like he is seeking attention but why at 3am when he gets nothing but love and devotion from us all day and night until sleep time?
And guess who is now fast asleep on the bed while mommy and daddy are sleep deprived at work? Budda!
Perhaps it is just a nocturnal behaviour manifesting as he gets older but whatever it is we need to nip this in the bud or we will be zombies.
Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Very interesting behaviour! One of our kitties would do this bellowing when he would carry a toy in his mouth around the house.
Fui took to getting up at 4am and demanding his breakfast. The only thing that got him to stop was to completely ignore him. Any reaction to him was validating his behaviour and encouraging it. Good luck. It's horrible when they just want to scream in the middle of the night!
In answer to your question about the babies, the vet put their age at a day or two, as they still have their umbilical cords attached.
Maggie May - Budda's twin brother, Casper does that too when he is carrying his toy puppy in his mouth. So cute!
Forever Foster - it really is very disconcerting having this going on but I think you are right about ignoring him to break this habit. Lets see what tonight brings!
Wow! Those are really baby baby kittens. Are you able to bottle feed them successfully?
It could be another male visiting the area at that time of the morning. When he starts bellowing, just get up quietly and see where he is or if he's looking at something. Sometimes there is another cat just outside that he is aware of. He is probably developing into the alpha male of the family and its his job to see off the intruder.
Hey Momcat! Funny you should mention that because I did have to get out of bed at around midnight to break up a fight between Odi and another male cat. This has not happened in ages so I was quite surprised and thought the other kitty was probably hungry again in in search of my cats biscuits.
Maybe he was hanging around still and has been all week and like you say Budda sensed that. Thanks - I'll have a good look if it happens again tonight.
