Success at Clamber Club

At last! A successful, fun and happy Clamber Club Class with Becca!
Yesterday was our 4th class and it seems Becca is now adjusting to what the class entails and represents.
While she did not do every activity, she did do a whole lot more than usual, waiting her turn in many instances, following instructions and really enjoying herself.
Also, when she wasnt fully participating in a section, she was at least not being out of hand and was just happily sitting and watching next to me.
This is a huge achievement and I am very pleased.
She has also formed a really cute little bond with two of the other toddlers. They are also two of the five in the class who are walking. The other seven toddlers are not yet walking and so they seem to interact differently to the ones who are walking, I suppose for obvious reasons.
Becca, Juno and Luca always seem to converege at the same activities and walk/run nicely together. Juno and Luca are 6 weeks older than Becca but the three are the same height and sort of milestone region and so they seem to have found a really cool groove whereas they seem a bit rough when placed with the other toddlers. To be fair, a toddler who is walking and running vs a toddler who is sitting/crawling is always going to appear more rough.
Sometimes Becca, Juno and Luca will run along and trip on a mat or toy and fall sort of onto a sitting toddler and it automatically appears that they are out of hand then but in fact they are just innocently exploring and those who are not yet walking cant get up and hold their own just yet. Its a tricky age. The class accommodates 12-15 month olds. By the end of term they will then be 15-18 month olds. Now within this age band there are still vast differences in development. Becca happens to be one of the younger ones who is doing more physically than say for example one of the 15/16 month olds. Its not to necessarily say that Becca is advanced or that they are slower, its just still all within that band and so I suspect once we all move to the class where they are for example 2-2.5 years they will then pretty much all be doing the same thing. All will be walking and running and talking and so such differences that we see in the current age of the class will fall away and interaction between the toddlers will widen.
On the talking front Becca is actually not really talking at all yet. She makes a lot of sounds and talks baby all day but actual words ... I cant really say she says much other than mama and daydo (daddy). Some of the other toddlers are saying a few actual words like juice and dummy and come and various other little words.
Its fascinating to see how each little person is so different. One little boy only sits. He doesnt crawl even BUT he is virtually saying sentences and uses a plastic cup really really well.
For now myself and Juno and Lucas moms seem to sit together in a corner section and stick a little to ourselves in some respects as our 3 dont seem to hurt or injure or frighten each other :)
We are talking about arranging a private play date for the 3 of them too.
The mommy of the twins is so divine too. Her little girl seems she is going to walk soon and the little boy not quite yet but the mom is so relaxed and doesnt mind a bit when Becca and the other two I have mentioned walk over to say hi and play near her twins.
All in all it is amazing to see how each little person is changing and developing week by week. I think in some instances we see these changes in each others children more quickly than we do in our own children! Seeing each other weekly, the changes are more obvious than with our own who we see every day. Sometimes I look at Becca and suddenly actually SEE her. I see she is now tall. She is growing strong. She is a little person all of her own.
My baby is now most certainly a toddler.
