Andy and I left Gauteng at 8am this morning. We reached the Free State in time for a toasted egg sandwich on the run for breakfast and then pushed on through Warden, Harrismith, Esctcourt, Bergville until we reached the central Drakensberg.
Our car climbed up and up and up until we eventually reached the majestic gates of Champagne Castle where we had a 12pm meeting scheduled with the Resort Wedding Coordinator.
Andy and I had a chuckle because as we pulled into the gates the clock in the car chimed twelve. Despite my begging an extra half hour in bed this morning and us running the risk of being late we had in fact achieved perfect timing!
The venue, chapel, chalets and actually everything were perfect. Better than the images on the Internet which is often not the case. We both realised this was most certainly the right decision. Each part of it is so lovely that minimal decor if any will be required which is right up our alley. I am not really one to faff with draping and overlays and huge flower arrangements etc so this is my dream come true. The chalets are awesome and we now know we can most certainly accommodate six adults per chalet without the risk of guests being in each others way, sharing bathrooms or feeling couped up. We then stopped at Thokosiza village on our way back to meet the potential Photographer and much to our relief he is super too so that's another winner.
After that it was a race to cover as many kilometers home before dark and other than a quick stop for a wee and snacks just outside of Ladysmith and petrol in Harrismith we were A for away and home just after 6pm.
Shew! What a fantastic, happy and productive day.
