No, the title of this post is not as the result of my cats running over the keyboard but is the name of a volcano in Iceland which erupted in late March this year. It originally had a fissure like eruption but has suddenly become far more violent shooting ash and molten lava into the air which results in a type of mini glass particle which then moves through the air at rapid rates and may cause mass destruction to aircraft.
This is why we are now seeing airspace being closed not only in Iceland but also in the UK and Northern Europe so far which is of course causing havoc amongst the travellers and the Airlines. I wonder how they ever make up an estimated 4000 postponed flights?!?
Interesting how even a live election debate in the UK can be usurped by Mother Nature :)

I have been watching news footage of Katrina and the Tsunami again and was aghast once again at the force of nature and the ensuing devastation. It seems mother nature is dominating the news quite a lot lately.
